Portugal FC Take On CSL-Leading Attak

2008-07-01

Portugal FC are currently unbeaten at Lamport Stadium. This record will be put to the test on Friday night as they take on league leading Trois Rivieres.

The CSL-leading Trois Rivieres Attak make a trip to Lamport Stadium to play against Portugal FC. The Attak are coming off a victory at home against the North York Astros. Portugal FC are coming off a decisive 4-0 victory over St. Catharines in which they got a double from Helio Pereira and singles from Wigor Gomes and Kevin McIntosh. However, that was a costly win as Selmir Sehic and Sebastian Busto will be forced out of this match because of the red cards shown in the victory over St. Catharines.

Portugal FC (4-3-2) vs. Trois Rivieres Attak (7-1-3)

This is the first matchup of the season between the National Division leading Attak and Portugal FC with the second fixture between these clubs being the last one of the 2008 season. Portugal FC continues to boast an unbeaten record at Lamport Stadium this season, however the Attak have only the one loss this season to report. Portugal FC currently sit in 4th position in the International Division but are just five points out of second position. A win this weekend, could go a long way as the majority of the teams head into the second half of the season and playoff positioning begins to creep into the minds of clubs.

The Attak have an opportunity to open a substantial lead in the National Division with two games this weekend. The Attak have been dominant since their only loss to the Italia Shooters, a loss they avenged a couple of weeks ago.

Kick off for the game is scheduled for 8:07pm and the game can be seen on Rogers Television. For Tickets call 905-564-4660 or contact tickets@portugalfc.ca
