On Friday night, Portugal FC return home to Lamport Stadium to take on the visiting St. Catharines Wolves. Portugal FC are coming off a tough loss at the hands of Toronto Croatia at the Hershey Center last Friday night. The Wolves are coming off a tough 2-0 home loss to the TFC Academy and are struggling to find their form in 2008.
Portugal FC (3-3-2) vs. St. Catharines Wolves (2-5-1) The St. Catharines Wolves are the 2007 National Division Champions. However, they come into Lamport Stadium on Friday sitting in 6th place in the National Division with only 7 points in 8 games. Portugal FC will look to take advantage of the struggling Wolves to pick up some points and make up some ground in the very competitive International Division. This will be the first of two meetings between the two clubs. The second meeting will take place on September 21 at Club Roma. The team also played twice last year with the teams fighting to a 2-2 draw in Toronto and the Wolves winning 2-1 back in the Niagara Region. Both teams will look to begin a winning streak as the season heads towards the midway point with both teams in the middle of the pack. Portugal FC enter the game unbeaten at home (2-0-2), while St. Catharines enters 2-2-1 on the road this season. The game can be season on Rogers Television with kick-off scheduled for 8:07pm.
