Portugal FC to Battle White Eagles this Friday Night

2008-05-23

PLEASE NOTE THE GAME TIME HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 8:00PM Portugal FC battle the Serbian White Eagles this Friday Night in an International Division battle with third place on the line.

Coming off a 1-1 draw with Toronto Croatia, Portugal FC gets back on the pitch this Friday night at Lamport Stadium as they take on the visiting Serbian White Eagles. The Whites and Eagles and Portugal FC are currently tied for 3rd place in the International Division with 10 points although Portugal FC has played two less games. In Serbia's last match, they were victorious over St. Catharines 4-0 at home, and come to Lamport in an attempt to put an end to Portugal FC's four game unbeaten streak.

Portugal FC (3-1-1) vs. Serbian White Eagles (3-3-1)

Portugal FC come into this game having allowed the fewest amount of goals in the league with only three goals against. They will seek to continue their defensive dominance as the White Eagles come to down. The White Eagles are 1-1-1 on the road this season in their three road fixtures this season.

This is the second of four meetings between these two international division clubs. Portugal FC was victorious 2-1 at Centennial Stadium on May 30, 2008. In that game, Portugal FC got goals from Danny Amaral and  Mike Aigbokie  to give Portugal FC their first victory of the season. That way seemed to spark the team as since that victory the team has not lost.

The Serbian White Eagles will be looking for revenge as they come into Lamport Stadium and attempt to spoil Portugal FC's undefeated home record (2-0-1). The White Eagles are currently tied with Portugal FC with 10 points and will look to gain a leg up in the standings with a big road victory this Friday night. In the last game between these two clubs, the White Eagles got their lone goal from Sasa Viciknez.
Kick-off for the game is now scheduled for 8:00pm at Lamport Stadium. The Game can be seen live on Rogers Television in Toronto. For Tickets call 905-564-4660 or contact tickets@portugalfc.ca
