PORTUGAL FC DOWNS CROATIA 4-2

Portugal FC jumped to a 2-0 lead after 27 minutes to prevail by a 4-2 score over Toronto Croatia at Lamport Stadium Friday night in front of good attendance.

Portugal were aggressive early and scored after 12 minutes when Jamaal Smith headed past Croatia goalkeeper Sandi Matika, and a picture goal from 35 yards by midfielder Michael Luk increased the lead to 2-0 at the 27th minute mark.

Croatia’s Tihomir Maletic reduced the Portugal lead to 2-1 after 34 minutes and Croatia were reduced to 10 men three minutes later when Hugo Herrera was shown the red card by referee Yusri Rudolf for violent conduct. It was 2-1 at the interval.

Nine minutes into the second half Maletic tied the game 2-2 for Toronto Croatia, but Adrian Pena struck for the home side to give Portugal a 3-2 lead at 65 minutes and Ramon Bailey secured the win 10 minutes later when he made it 4-2 off a rebound.
