Portugal were aggressive early and scored after 12 minutes when Jamaal Smith headed past Croatia goalkeeper Sandi Matika, and a picture goal from 35 yards by midfielder Michael Luk increased the lead to 2-0 at the 27th minute mark.
Croatia’s Tihomir Maletic reduced the Portugal lead to 2-1 after 34 minutes and Croatia were reduced to 10 men three minutes later when Hugo Herrera was shown the red card by referee Yusri Rudolf for violent conduct. It was 2-1 at the interval.
Nine minutes into the second half Maletic tied the game 2-2 for Toronto Croatia, but Adrian Pena struck for the home side to give Portugal a 3-2 lead at 65 minutes and Ramon Bailey secured the win 10 minutes later when he made it 4-2 off a rebound.
